Thank you for following our “TCCS News” blog. Periodically, we will be posting blogs written by our teachers. They will be writing about various activities that are taking place in their classrooms and insights gained through their classroom experiences. Today’s blog is written by the teachers who have been given the responsibility of overseeing our school’s official social media accounts. Ms. Turner is a new teacher to our school and Mrs. Templeton is returning to TCCS this year. Once again thank you for following “TCCS News”.
I am Debbie Templeton and have returned to Tri-City to teach this year after being away from Catawba County for 6 years. I was on staff at Tri-City from 2002-2011. It is good to see so many familiar faces. I am equally excited to see so many new faces as well.
This is my 36th year of teaching and I would still rather spend my days with your children than people my own age. I have taught everything from kindergarten to seniors in high school. When I was at Tri-City previously, I spent most of my years with middle school students. In the years since I have taught mostly high school classes.
My husband, former TCCS administrator, Bob Templeton and I have served seven Christians schools in Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina over our 36 years in Christian Education. Both of our children attended and graduated from Christian schools. Some of our best friends have served alongside us.
I see Christian education as a way for the body of Christ to serve the community and local church. The influences of those I have worked with and served have made life changing impacts on my life. I will never regret a single day of my service to the Lord through Christian education.
Hello, my name is Amy Turner and this is my first year teaching at Tri-City. I teach 9th through 12th grade English. I am so excited to be here! It is such a joy to be working in Christian education.
I was in broadcasting for close to 10 years. I worked at a CBS station in Mississippi and then for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in Virginia Beach. I worked as a producer, anchor, reporter, editor, and spokesperson during my broadcasting days.
I taught at The Art Institute in Durham and at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. I taught Public Speaking, Journalism and Broadcasting. I have also worked with several charter schools.
I have three children at Tri-City, they keep me very busy! Chandler is in 10th grade, Ethan is in 9th grade, and Toby is in 6th grade. If I’m not in the classroom then you will probably see me coaching volleyball, on the sideline cheering for my sons who play soccer for the school or at a football game on Saturday cheering for Toby.
Again I’m very happy and excited to be at Tri-City, thank you for entrusting your students to me. I look forward to a great year.
